Transcription: Hammered out by the Allies in 1919 at the end of World War I, the Treaty of Versailles was an irritant to the people of Germany. Burdened with the high war reparations payments imposed by the treaty and further aggravated by a faltering economy, the Germans were in a state of readiness to follow the first strong leader that came upon the scene.
